To Women

By Lian Huang
(黄楝 原诗 黄楝 英译)

Do not miss me, my girl
   When rainbows fade
and the staff stuffed with notes
        is now a blank space
                You are
            more gypsy
    than I am
It' s said that beautiful skirts
    thirst for fluttering
        to solicit springs
But I sit motionless
under the linden
waiting for
windfalls or nirvana
In the forest of life
     Sphinx Brand women
in full flirting bloom
       are graceful crosses
decorating the totem posts
There' re labyrinths
          everywhere
I erect the white flag
         with the spear
            used by Don Quixote
(Mind the tears--the knockout drops)
  Inborn loveliness
      and love stories
          must apply gaudy make-up
              to please everybody
          Also sprach
              the commercials
                    if you
                    wanna become
               more masculine
                  please often
                 so an so
                      two pills of
                  red lips
